Francesco Napolitano of italian architecture and design office LAD has shared photographs of ‘the stealth’, a realized shopping center and plaza in rome. shaped like a mastaba, a type of ancient egyptian tomb, the flat-roofed structure features outward sloping sides clad in titanium-zinc. the design echoes the natural slopes found in the region’s terrain, establishing a synthesis between architecture and the environment. access inside the truncated pyramid is found behind panels which fold upwards from the building’s façade, providing a sense of security and protection when not in use.
